Cavs Fall to Wizards at Home

The Cavaliers hosted the Washington Wizards tonight, and lost by a score of 124-112. The Cavs now drop to 6-16 on their home court.

The Cavs started out hot, as they took an early 18-9. But Washington responded by locking up on defense and shooting the ball efficiently, as the Wizards shot 56% from the field in the first half. This allowed the Wizards to take a 68-61 lead over the Cavs into halftime.

The Second half saw much of the same, as it seemed like every time the Cavs tried to make a run, the Wizards were able to counter. The Wizards were in constant rhythm all, while the Cavs fell behind early on, and were just not able to catch back up. The Wizards won tonight’s game dropping the Cavs to 12-33 on the season. The Wizards shot 55% from the field, including 44% from three, while Cleveland shot 46% and 33% from three.

Collin Sexton had a good night as he finished with 29 points, as he shot 10-15 from the field. Sexton also added 4 rebounds and 4 assists on the night. Larry Nance Jr. also added off the bench with 22 points on 10-14 from the field, and 12 rebounds, but they were outdone by Bradley Beals 36 points, on 15-22 shooting, and 8 assists, and Davis Bertans 17 points.

After the game Coach John Beilein stated that the Cavs have lost a lot of close games this season, and the young players have to keep working and continue to grow. The Cavs next game is against The Chicago Bulls on Saturday night at Rocket Mortgage Field House.
