NFL Picks Week One
Week one of the NFL season kicked off this past weekend, and once again the WZIP sports team made their predictions prior to the start of each game. Here are the results:
Ben Thomas 11-5
Matt Parrish 10-6
Isaiah Houde 10-6
Jake Allen 9-7
Rocco Nuosci 9-7
Khalil Smith 9-7
Cami Justice 9-7
Cullen Perdue 9-7
Nick Jordan 9-7
Cortez Grayson 9-7
Clay Wyers 8-8
David Rodriguez
Ben Thomas takes the week one crown, as he made his first picks for the WZIP sports team. He stuck pretty close to the favorites, and that pushed him to the top of the week one standings. “The NFL can be so unpredictable”, Thomas said, “it’s hard to get even half of the games right. I feel lucky to get 11 in a week”.
Week one of the NFL featured such upsets as Denver beating Carolina with a first time quarterback, the Lions upsetting the Colts in their first game since Calvin Johnson retired, and the 49ers shutting down the Rams in their first game calling Los Angeles home.
It was the first time making predictions for several on the sports team, including Thomas, Nick Jordan, Isaiah Houde, Matt Parrish, Camryn Justice, Cullen Perdue, and Clay Wyers. It was an overall successful week for the rookies, with three of them going at least 10-6.
In fact, out of ESPN’s “expert predictions”, only Merril Hoge recorded the same 11-5 mark as Thomas. On the other end, CBSSports’ “expert” Will Brinson went just 6-10 in his picks, worse than any WZIP sports member.
The reigning champion, Khalil Smith, was successful as well, and as always he went for some upsets. He was among several that wrongfully expected the Browns to win, as well as Washington and Atlanta. However, he was just one of four that chose the Ravens to beat the Bills.
Make sure to check in as the sports team will provide picks every week of the NFL season.
